Owned and operated by hospitality and tourism specialists Artemus Group, Manly Wharf is Sydney’s iconic waterfront destination, blending heritage charm with a vibrant community spirit. As the Head Chef, you are responsible for leading the overall culinary operations of the venue, delivering exceptional food experiences that align with the brand’s vision and standards. This role oversees all aspects of kitchen management including menu development, team leadership, cost control, food safety, and operational efficiency. The Head Chef sets the tone for kitchen culture, fosters continuous improvement, and ensures a high-performing team that consistently produces innovative, high-quality dishes. Key responsibilities include: Set and execute the culinary vision in alignment with the venue’s brand, positioning, and business goals to drive a distinctive and memorable dining experience Lead kitchen operations as a business unit, ensuring productivity, profitability, and alignment with financial targets through effective cost control, supplier negotiations, and menu engineering Design innovative, seasonal, and commercially viable menus that reflect guest insights, evolving trends, and margin performance, while upholding quality and consistency Develop and lead a high-performance kitchen team, embedding a strong leadership culture through coaching, succession planning, and talent development initiatives Implement systems, procedures, and reporting structures that support scalable growth, team efficiency, and quality assurance across services Leverage operational data and guest feedback to evaluate performance, make evidence-based decisions, and drive continuous improvement in culinary delivery and guest satisfaction What we are looking for: 3 years' experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen Strong culinary skills with the ability to run a section independently and consistently meet quality and presentation standards Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene, HACCP compliance, and WHS practices Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent trade qualification) Strong ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions Demonstrated ability to work under limited supervision Vibrant presence with strong interpersonal skills Why you’ll love working for us?
